"Today Higher Ground Designs, Inc. is a well-established professional landscape architecture firm. With a strong and committed staff, we offer state-of-the-art comprehensive services from custom residential to multi-use projects. In 1985 my passion for landscape architecture began with my first design/build project. Over the years I developed unique design and installation skills which proved invaluable in generating construction documents and working as a team with contractors and other professionals. Living in Colorado for over twenty-five years has provided me with an extensive knowledge of the Colorado native landscape and plant material."

John MacKay, President, RLA, ASLA

John MacKay, Registered Landscape Architect, is the President and Founder of Higher Ground Designs, Inc. and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). In 1993 John earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University graduating with recognition for outstanding achievement in Landscape Architecture. Since 1993 Mr. MacKay has practiced landscape architecture with an emphasis on athletic park and residential design, irrigation design and master planning. Together, his experience, strong design talent, and knowledge of Colorado landscape bring solid leadership and direction to Higher Ground Designs, Inc.
